Le coût de la perfection (The Cost of Perfection)

This is oil on wood panel. The title of the painting, Le coût de la perfection or The Cost of Perfection became clear to me as I struggled to capture that fleeting moment where practice and perfection collide. In her face I could see the yearning for perfection. The lingering question of ever achieving it. The possibility that it was found in this moment frozen in time.

I see her in the light reveling in achieving that one fleeting moment of perfection while at the same time reaching out to acknowledge the personal sacrifice it took to get there.
